Pennsylvania American Water Announces $1.3 Million Mon Valley System Upgrade

New booster station aims to improve service reliability and fire protection for customers

Elizabeth Township, Pa. (November 16, 2020) – Pennsylvania American Water announced today the start of construction on a new booster station in Elizabeth Township, Allegheny County. Located on Mill Hill Road, the booster station will help pump water to key service areas while also improving service reliability and fire protection for customers. The total cost of this investment is $1.3 million.

“These continued investments in Pennsylvania American Water’s infrastructure allow us to meet current and future water demands of the communities we serve,” said Senior Manager of Operations Jake Gentile. “The new booster station will enable the company to maintain adequate pressure and improve fire flows.”

The new Mill Hill booster station replaces an existing pump station that has reached the end of its useful lifespan. The $1.3 million dollar investment also includes construction of a block building which will house the new booster station’s pumps, valves, piping, and communication system. The work is being completed by DiMarco Construction Company.

Construction will begin this week and, weather permitting, is expected to be completed by March 2021. Work will take place between 7 a.m. and 5 p.m., Monday through Friday. Work outside these hours is not expected unless required to maintain project schedule. We do not anticipate any service disruption as a result of this work.
