Boil Water Order Lifted in Cairo District

(Cairo, Ill. September 7, 2023) –Illinois American Water has lifted the boil water order in the Cairo District. The boil water order was issued Tuesday, September 5, for all water customers in the Cairo District due to a main break at the water treatment plant Tuesday afternoon.

Tests throughout the system confirm water meets all regulatory quality standards and is safe to drink. Water is OK for drinking, cooking, bathing, washing and other common uses.
