Deborah Dewey named president of Missouri American Water

GREENWOOD, Ind.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Indiana American Water has named Matthew Prine president of Indiana American Water and Michigan American Water effective March 25, 2019. Prine is replacing Deborah Dewey, who has been named president of Missouri American Water.

“We are excited to have both Matt and Debbie take on new expanded roles at American Water,” said American Water’s chief operating officer, Walter Lynch. “We thank Debbie for her leadership in Indiana. First serving as the head of operations and then becoming president in 2016, Debbie has done a tremendous job.

“We are also excited for Matt to lead our Indiana team,” added Lynch. “Matt has deep roots in Indiana and has been part of our Indiana leadership team since 2014. He has a strong record of fostering transparent, collaborative and constructive relationships with state and local government officials, communities and customers.”

Prine joined Indiana American Water in 2014 as director of Government Affairs. Since that time, he has built strong relationships with communities and public officials. He was also a member of the Indiana American Water leadership team, where he worked collaboratively to advance the company’s commitment to its customers and operational excellence, and to provide water solutions to surrounding communities.

Prior to joining American Water, Prine served as executive director of the Indiana Utility Shareholder Association. He brings with him 15 years of utility and government relations experience, including serving as deputy chief of staff in the U.S. House of Representatives.

Prine understands the importance of our business as a critical service in a unique and deeply invested way: he also serves as a volunteer firefighter and EMT for Amity Fire and Rescue.

Prine earned his Bachelor of Arts from Hanover College in Madison, Ind. He is also a graduate of the Indiana Leadership Forum and has been an active member of the Indiana Society of Association Executives and Government Affairs Society of Indiana.
