Indiana American Water Announces Job Opportunities for Gary and Northwest Indiana Community

GARY, IND. (July 14, 202) –   Indiana American Water and its parent company, American Water (NYSE: AWK), the nation’s largest publicly traded water and wastewater utility company, announced today it is looking to fill 20 fully remote, full-time customer service job opportunities for residents of Gary and the northwest Indiana community. This is the second hiring for the Gary area since the company originally established this location for remote customer service jobs in September of last year.

“These job opportunities are another way we are continuing to invest in this community while building on our award-winning customer service organization, which handles calls from across the country,” said Matt Prine, President of Indiana American Water. “Our commitment to customers and the communities we serve goes beyond the delivery of safe, reliable water and wastewater service – it also includes helping to make communities better because we are there, and this opportunity for local residents to build careers in a growing field with a growing company is a perfect example of that.”

Since purchasing the water system more than two decades ago, Indiana American Water continues to follow-up on its commitment to help revitalize the city and its water infrastructure, be an impactful corporate citizen and advocate for the community. The company has invested more than $400 million in the northwest Indiana water system, including nearly $51 million to replace or retire more than 13,000 lead service lines. The company and its employees are also actively engaged in the communities it serves by partnering with organizations like Habitat for Humanity, Meals on Wheels, Boys and Girls Club of Greater Northwest Indiana, several local fire departments, and the Salvation Army.

Indiana American Water has been the water services provider for most of Lake and Porter counties since 1999 and has been serving customers in Indiana for more than 135 years.

Gary-based customer service roles help supplement American Water’s national call center operations, fielding calls from across its regulated footprint.
