Kentucky American Water Investing $900,000 in Owenton Water Infrastructure

Kentucky American Water has announced that work will begin this month on a significant water main replacement project in Owenton. The approximately $900,000 project, part of the company’s ongoing investment in water infrastructure, involves replacing water mains on South Main Street and East Adair Street in Owenton. The effort will replace aging pipe and assist with providing additional system redundancy, which improves overall reliability of service.

The project is scheduled to be conducted in three phases. Water mains along South Main Street from US 127 to Seminary Street are scheduled for replacement starting in November 2014. Water mains along South Main Street from Seminary Street to Bland Street are scheduled for replacement starting in the Spring of 2015. Water mains on East Adair Street from South Main Street to Horizon Circle are scheduled for replacement starting in the Summer of 2015. Inclement weather could impact the schedule of this major project.

Kentucky American Water invests approximately $20 million each year in system and facility improvements in order to maintain high quality water service for its customers. The water main replacement project in Owenton is one example of this type of investment.
