Kentucky American Water Now Accepting Applications for 2024 Firefighting Support Grants

Program has provided nearly $100,000 in grants since 2011

To show its continued commitment to community fire departments, Kentucky American Water announced today it is accepting applications for its 13th annual Firefighting Support Grant Program.

“We appreciate our firefighters for serving on the frontlines every day for our communities. This grant program demonstrates our commitment to firefighting support across our service area,” said Kentucky American Water President Kathryn Nash.

Since 2011, Kentucky American Water’s Firefighting Support Grant Program has awarded $99,500 in grant funds to professional and volunteer fire departments in the company’s 14-county service area.

Lexington Fire Chief Jason Wells states that “the annual Firefighting Support Grant Program has allowed us to fund our hood swap program, an important program that helps us ensure the safety of our firefighters. The Lexington Fire Department is grateful for Kentucky’s American Water’s ongoing support.”

Fire organizations in the company’s 14-county service area (Bourbon, Clark, Fayette, Franklin, Gallatin, Grant, Harrison, Jackson, Jessamine, Nicholas, Owen, Rockcastle, Scott and Woodford counties) are eligible to apply. Information about the program and the application can be found on Kentucky American Water’s website at https://www.amwater.com/kyaw/News-Community/Community-Giving/firefighting-support-grants. The deadline to apply is September 6, 2024.
