Maryland American Water Proudly Recognizes the American Water Charitable Foundation 2022 Water and Environment Grantees

Recipients include nonprofit organization in Maryland American Water’s service area

Bel Air, MD September 27, 2022 – The American Water Charitable Foundation, a 501(c)(3) organization established by American Water, the largest publicly traded U.S. water and wastewater utility company, recently announced an organization served by Maryland American Water was awarded a 2022 Water and Environment Grant.

Towson University received funding to examine a new water conservation device that is used to circulate water when thawing food. The research will examine if the device reduces water use as well as factors that impact the devices’ ease of use.

“Maryland American Water is committed to environmental sustainability and ensuring water is available for future generations. Part of that commitment includes helping our customers understand what they can do to conserve,” said Barry Suits, President of Maryland American Water. “The American Water Charitable Foundation supports these efforts by providing funding for initiatives related to clean water, conservation and education and I congratulate Towson University on this achievement.”

The Water and Environment grant is part of the American Water Charitable Foundation’s Keep Communities Flowing Grant Program, focusing on three pillars of giving: Water, People and Communities.

“The American Water Charitable Foundation is pleased to partner with organizations to provide equitable and accessible projects and programs focused on clean water, environmental education, access to water-based recreation and more,” said Carrie Williams, president, American Water Charitable Foundation“. Funding from the Water and Environment grant creates high-impact projects that engage communities in learning how every drop counts.”
