NEW JERSEY AMERICAN WATER INVESTS $1.9 MILLION IN BERNARDSVILLE INFRASTRUCTURE

CAMDEN, N.J. – SEPT. 25, 2020 – New Jersey American Water will install approximately 5,300 feet of new 12-inch ductile iron main in Bernardsville beginning next week. The company will install the new water lines along the following streets:

  • State highway, Minebrook Road/ Route 202 from Mt. Harmony Road to Crestview Drive
  • Municipal road, Crestview Drive from Route 202 to the cul-de-sac

This $1.9 million investment will continue to advance water service reliability and increase water flows for household consumption and fire protection in this community. The project represents a critical investment for the company in support of its commitment to provide customers with safe, reliable water service and has been coordinated with the Borough in cooperation with its paving program.

New Jersey American Water’s local, qualified contractor, Vollers, will begin work on or about September 28 and expects to finish within two months, weather permitting. Work hours on Route 202 will be at night from 8 p.m. to 6 a.m. Monday evening through Saturday morning per NJDOT, and work hours on Crestview Drive will be from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Friday. Work outside of these hours is not expected unless required to maintain project schedule. Final street restorations on Route 202 will be completed in spring 2021. Restoration of Crestview Drive will be completed by Bernardsville Borough.

For the public’s and workers’ safety, traffic restrictions and/or alternating traffic patterns are likely to occur during work hours. All emergency vehicles and local traffic will be allowed access during construction. New Jersey American Water values the safety of its workers and advises drivers and pedestrians to take caution in the vicinity of work sites.

The company wants to ask customers to recognize the essential work being done by its employees and contractors and remind them to adhere to social distancing rules for everyone’s safety. If a customer sees a crew performing work in their area, and wishes to ask a question about it, they are encouraged to visit the website or the company’s Facebook or Twitter pages, or call Customer Service at (800) 272-1325.
