New Jersey American Water President Mark McDonough Statement on Water Infrastructure Investment Plan

CAMDEN, N.J. (January 21, 2022) – New Jersey American Water President Mark McDonough issued the following statement today regarding the Murphy Administration’s launch of the state’s Water Infrastructure Investment Plan:

“We applaud Governor Murphy and Commissioner LaTourette for this momentous announcement. There are not many greater, more critical investments we can make in our state than water and wastewater infrastructure. New Jersey American Water understands and appreciates the need for this kind of large-scale investment. It’s why over the next few years we alone plan to invest about $1 billion in infrastructure upgrades across our service areas in New Jersey.

“The Water Infrastructure Investment Plan will undoubtedly help put some communities on the right path when it comes to upgrading their water and wastewater systems, but I would also encourage municipalities to look to increased partnerships with professional water companies like ours to find solutions to the many challenges facing municipalities. New Jersey American Water is proud to continue doing our part to keep water and wastewater services safe and reliable.”

New Jersey American Water, a subsidiary of American Water (NYSE: AWK), is the largest investor-owned water utility in the state, providing high-quality and reliable water and/or wastewater services to approximately 2.8 million people.
