Virginia American Water Cancels Boil Water Advisory for Hopewell PWSID # 3670800
Dateline City:
HOPEWELL, Va.
Virginia American Water has cancelled the precautionary boil water
advisory, effective immediately, for all of its customers in the City of
Hopewell, as well as the subdivisions of New Birchett Estates, Cedar
Creek, and Cedar Creek West, Strattford Woods, and Mulberry Woods in
Prince George County. The results of the water samples we took were
satisfactory, indicating there is no longer a need to boil the water.
All customers may resume normal use of their tap water.
“Virginia American Water sincerely regrets the inconvenience experienced
by our customers and the community. We are very grateful for everyone’s
patience and cooperation, especially the support of City of Hopewell
officials and emergency responders,” said Virginia American Water
President William R. Walsh.
The boil water advisory was issued Tuesday night due to the loss of
pressure associated with the plant shut down, as a precaution to assure
the protection of public health. Two rounds of sampling, 24 hours apart,
showed no signs of contamination and therefore, the advisory has been
lifted and all operations are back to normal.
The free bottled water distribution site will be discontinued with this
announcement.
