Waverly Header

We’re proud to be your new water service provider.

On May 17, 2022, Virginia American Water completed the acquisition of the Town of Waverly’s drinking water system. We have been providing high-quality, reliable water and wastewater services to 339,000 people throughout the Commonwealth for well over a century. In fact, we’re the largest water company in the state and we are committed to delivering that same standard of excellence to you as our new water service customer.

You’re in good hands.

Our focus is to provide you with safe, reliable water service – and we have the people and technologies in place to get the job done right. As our valued customer, we wanted to share with you some information about the services we provide, as well as some changes that will be taking place over time.

We’re invested in Waverly.

After the closing date, Virginia American Water will be responsible for the day-to-day operations and maintenance of the system and will be your point of contact for any service-related and billing questions. We’ve already hit the ground running and you may have already begun to see our employees and vehicles, as Virginia American Water is fixing leaks, working on wells, and mapping the water distribution system assets.

Virginia American Water plans to invest more than $4 million in system improvements to the Town of Waverly’s drinking water system. These improvements include water main and meter replacements, improvements to wells and tanks, as well as numerous other projects to enhance safety and security measures and system reliability. Your water meter wil be upgraded in June/July. Once your meter has been replaced, you will be notified by a door tag.

About your rates.

There will be no changes to your current rates for the next two years. Because Virginia American Water is regulated by the State Corporation Commission (SCC), any future proposed changes in rates will be subject to extensive governmental review and approval.

We’re transitioning your billing.

Here’s how the billing transition will work. In early July, Virginia American Water will read your meter for the first time, and your first bill from Virginia American Water will follow. Effective with your first bill, payments should be made to Virginia American Water.
