Welcome to the Becks Run Raw Water Line Improvement Project Page

May 23, 2024 Update

We’re investing $34 million in your neighborhood

Our customers count on us to provide safe, reliable, affordable water service. By regularly upgrading our infrastructure, we’re planning to keep it that way.

We’re installing two new 42-inch water mains along Becks Run Road (from Carson Street (SR 837) to East Agnew Road). These mains supply water from the Monongahela River to the Hays Mine Treatment Plant.

The construction zone will encompass a two-mile stretch of Becks Run Road, which will be closed to through-traffic between Carson Street (SR 837) and East Agnew Road near the company’s water treatment plant.

Residents, local businesses and customers, Pittsburgh Regional Transit buses, school buses and emergency vehicles will be granted limited access through the construction zone. All other traffic will be directed to preferred detours.

This project will replace two, approximately 100-year-old water mains that provide up to 30 million gallons of drinking water daily to roughly 137,000 customers in southern Allegheny County. This investment will improve service reliability for generations to come.

Weather permitting, our contractor, Casper Colosimo & Sons, will begin work on or around the week of June 3, 2024, and be completed by the end of summer 2025. Work hours will be Mon.–Fri., 7 a.m.–5 p.m. and Sat., 7 a.m.–3 p.m. Final street restoration will be completed in 2025.
